2012 Spring Tournament Schedule

Our tournament this Spring will not be a fundraiser, rather it will serve as a sort of playoffs and championship for this season’s teams.  Guest players ARE welcome to join teams for a small fee of $10.  The tournament fee is included in the cost of registration for current Spring 2012 participants.

At this time we are aiming for an 11 v. 11 format, but the final decision will depend on team roster numbers.  Please contact your captain if you plan to play.  If you are a guest player, please contact Jen at jen@cvillewomenssoccer.org for team placement.

Games will begin at 10am with two games guaranteed plus a final match.  Please contact your captain for a schedule.

We are now taking registrations for Spring 2012 CWS soccer season. Please go to the Registration page for season details and sign up. The Registration deadline is February 17, 2012.

CWS Fall 2011 Tournament Schedule

Our fall tournament fundraiser to benefit UVA’s ovarian cancer research will be held on Sunday, November 20th beginning at 10am.  Tournament specifics, including a schedule, will be available soon so please check back here for more information.

Here’s how you can donate to the cause:

The funds raised by Charlottesville Women’s Soccer will advance innovative ovarian cancer research and clinical trials at the UVA Cancer Center, helping bring new, more effective therapies safely and quickly into practice.  Gifts can be made by check to UVA Health Foundation – Ovarian Cancer or online at www.supportuvacancer.org (mark “Other” and type “Ovarian Cancer/CWS” in the Special Instructions box at the bottom of the page).

Unless significant rain is forecast we will do our best to play games as scheduled. We monitor the weather and the radar throughout the day to make the most informed decisions possible.

If weather conditions deteriorate during the day updated game information will be available at the top of this page. However, both referees and captains have the authority to cancel the game at the field if conditions are deemed too dangerous. We will then reschedule the games when possible according to field availability.

This summer we will hold pick up soccer games at Darden Towe Park.  Come Sunday at 5:30. We’ll meet at field #1 (closest to the pavilion/bathrooms) and may move if needed.  Beginning Sunday, June 19th, we will meet at 6:30 following WestCitySoccer’s women’s soccer program.  All pick up soccer is free and open to the general public.

Please bring both a light and a dark shirt, plenty of water, and your friends and families (yes, kids too!).    See you there!

Scoring:

3 points for a win

1 point for a tie

0 points for a loss

If two or more teams are tied for the same ranking, the tie-breaker will be the result(s) of the game played between these two or more teams; the winner will be ranked prior to the others.

If those teams are still tied for the same ranking, the tie- breaker will be the goals allowed. The team with the fewest goals allowed will be ranked prior to the others.

If those teams are still tied for the same ranking, the tie- breaker will be the goals scored. The team with the most goals scored will be ranked prior to the others.
